Knitted pieces meets movement in a durational piece exploring ideas surrounding inhabiting the space as a woman.
Ella Tighe, dance artist and Coco Cripps, textile designer bring their practices together to explore the cyclical nature of womanhood.
A series of movement scores working with the knitted pieces designed and created in response to a series of conversations between the artists about their existence as women in relation to society.
The work was a site specific work for St George Garrison Church in Woolwich, London.
It is a ruined church in Woolwich in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, South East London. It was built in 1862-63 as a Church of England place of worship for the Woolwich Royal Artillery garrison. The church was hit by a V-1 flying bomb in 1944 and largely destroyed by fire.
The work engages with the architectural landscape of the ruins, as well as making reference to the women inscribed in the mosaics on the walls.
